Press Release

FORCED EVICTION AND EXPULSION OF PALESTINIANS IN SILWAN AND SYEKH JARRAH – UN MUST INTERVENE

We condemn the ongoing tension created by the zionist Jews and occupation forces in East Jerusalem which intends to evict Palestinian families in the neighborhood of Syekh Jarrah and Silwan District.

For the last 3 days , clashes and tensions between worshippers and occupation forces also erupted in the Al Aqsa Mosque compound amid the ceasefire in Gaza.

The israel zinost regime has now launched a crackdown to raid on homes and take in alledged demonstrators for creating public disorder. Israel is aiming to clamp down on protestors by hunting fown hundreds of Palestinians to be taken in.

And now the regime has proceeded with an eviction plan in neighborhoods of the old city.

While the Israeli court delays ruling on expulsion of families in Silwan , the tension is still high and Jews settlers are exerting their pressure to evict the Palestinians.

We abhor the use of the Israeli court in 2020 that ruled for the
forcibly displacement of seven Palestinian families in the Silwan district in favour of Jewish settlers .

Israel’s planned expulsion of Palestinian families from homes in East Jerusalem’s Silwan district will be resisted strongly and we call for international groups to help to protect them.

Palestinian families are now been targetted to face forced displacement from their homes in occupied East Jerusalem’s Silwan district.

This is the continuing oppression inflicted on the Palestinians in the occupied territories of the West Bank.

The world cannot keep silence on the de-population and aggression on the Palestinians by the regime.

Using the Israeli court to decide is part of the Israeli policy to build settler homes in occupied East Jerusalem.

It is clear that the zionist israel has embarked on the policy of forcible expulsion to impose demography change on the population.

This has been going on for decades to push out the Palestinians in neighbourhoods in occupied East Jerusalem.

House demolitions are rampant in occupied West Bank by court orders on Palestinian homes.

The Israel magistrate courts are now fully exploited to expel Palestinians for the interest of the settlers who are supported by the Ateret Cohanim, a settlement organisation whose main job is to replace Palestinians with Jews,.

Palestinians are now been cornered to move from one location to another.

This is the reason why the Palestinians are resisting. They cannot allow their lives to be bullied by the zionist occupation.

More than 700,000 Palestinians were driven out or expelled from their homes by Jewish militias in 1948, when Israel was declared as an independent state.

Now nothing is left for the Palestinians when everything is been confiscated and denied.

Thousands of Palestinians were further displaced in the Six-Day War in 1967 when Israel captured East Jerusalem.

Silwan, home to about 33,000 Palestinians, is located outside the walls of the Old City and barely 5km (2.4 miles) from Sheikh Jarrah neighourhood . It is now under threat by eviction court orders.

Since the 1980s, Israel has been moving Jewish settlers to the neighbourhood, and currently several hundred settlers live there in heavily protected settlement compounds, at the expense of Palestinian families who were forcibly displaced.

This is an outright injustice. Jews are allowed to expell Palestinians under the pretext that
Israeli claims the land is rightfully owned by a Jewish trust active in the area more than 100 years ago.

The oppression is too clear.
While Israeli law allows for property to be transferred to Jews, it denies the same right to Palestinians who were dispossessed of their property following the establishment of the state in 1948.

We call for international intervention.

The world community cannot just observes and remain silent on Israel’s “criminal policy of forced displacement of Palestinians”.

A peaceful solution can never become a reality when for years Israel has sought to expand illegal settlements in every possible area to stake their claim.

Israel is fanning the flames of the latest surge in violence and perpetuating the same systematic human rights violations against Palestinians.

We reiterate that this is the root of the violence.

The Silwan and Syekh Jarrah expulsions are a continuing and perpectuating expansionist policy of the zionist regime.

We see this as long term strategy to incur an ethnic cleansing against the Palestinians.

Expulsions are part of Israeli legislation, including specific laws that facilitate the takeover of properties for the establishment of Israeli settlements considered illegal under international law.

Israel is now lining up, according to a survey in 2020 , revealed that at least 218 Palestinian households in East Jerusalem had eviction cases filed against them, the majority initiated by settler organisations, placing 970 people, including 424 children, at risk of displacement.

The Batn al-Hawa area of Silwan, is reported to have a community with the highest number of people at risk of displacement, due to ongoing eviction cases, OCHA said in a statement.

We call all action groups from the international community and rights groups to stand in solidarity with Palestinian community in Syekh Jarrah and Silwan and put pressure on the regime to block the Jews settlers from moving in and take over the neighborhood.

We remind the international agencies that the situation will have the potential of another flare up of clashes as the Palestinians have no other choice but to resist.
