MAPIM PRESS RELEASE
8th June 2025
For Immediate Release
UNITED NATIONS MUST WORK CLOSELY WITH GOVERNMENT IN GAZA TO SECURE AID DISTRIBUTION
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations (MAPIM) strongly supports Press Statement No. 862 issued by the Government Media Office in Gaza on 7 June 2025, highlighting the urgent need for coordinated international humanitarian aid efforts amidst the catastrophic situation in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In light of the systematic starvation policy and genocide perpetrated by the Israeli occupation, MAPIM affirms the critical and irreplaceable role of the United Nations and its specialized agencies in the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians. The UN remains the only internationally recognized legal and operational authority with decades of experience in serving Palestinian refugees and defending their fundamental rights.
We echo the statement that so-called “Israeli-American aid initiatives”—which are controlled by the Israeli military—have completely failed. These efforts are marred by political manipulation, lack of transparency, and blatant bias, serving more as tools of propaganda than genuine humanitarian relief. These schemes entrench the occupation, manipulate aid access, and deepen the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
MAPIM holds the Israeli regime fully accountable for the man-made famine and blockade-induced humanitarian crisis. We also declare that the United States, as Israel’s chief political, military, and financial sponsor, is a co-perpetrator in the collective starvation of over 2.4 million Palestinians. This is a gross violation of international humanitarian law, including the Geneva Conventions, and constitutes an active crime against humanity.
We commend the Government in Gaza for its declaration of full readiness to receive and protect aid convoys, ensuring safe and transparent delivery of aid to the starving population, in coordination with UN standards and mechanisms. Despite ongoing Israeli attacks—including the martyrdom of over 750 police officers assigned to secure aid and thousands of civil service workers—the government and community leadership in Gaza continue to display exceptional resilience and organizational capacity.
MAPIM emphasizes that aid must not be politicized nor fall into the hands of the occupying power. The United Nations must urgently intensify cooperation with the Government in Gaza as the legitimate coordinating authority on the ground to:
●Ensure unhindered and direct delivery of humanitarian assistance;
●Prevent aid theft, diversion, or exploitation;
●Uphold international legal obligations to protect civilians under siege.
We also join in the call to all Palestinians to uphold national responsibility by safeguarding aid convoys and ensuring aid reaches the most vulnerable. Unity between government institutions and grassroots communities is the key to overcoming this genocidal blockade.
MAPIM reaffirms its commitment to global advocacy, international humanitarian mobilisation, and support for the Palestinian people’s right to life, dignity, and sovereignty.
