MAPIM Calls on 22 Arab-Islamic Countries to Move Beyond Words – Gaza Needs Action, Not Just Declarations
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) welcomes the recent joint Arab-Islamic statement signed by 22 Muslim countries, including Saudi Arabia, condemning the Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran. While this collective denunciation is a step toward unity, MAPIM stresses that condemnation alone is not enough—it is time for decisive and coordinated action.
For more than eight months, Gaza has been subjected to a genocidal war by the Zionist regime. Thousands of lives have been lost, critical infrastructure destroyed, and the entire population faces starvation and displacement. Yet, the response from the Muslim world has largely been limited to statements and symbolic gestures.
MAPIM strongly urges the 22 signatory countries to:
- Translate condemnation into concrete action, including political, diplomatic, and economic measures against Israel.
- Support international legal action to hold Israeli leaders accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
- Immediately mobilize humanitarian assistance and ensure safe, unrestricted aid corridors into Gaza.
- End all normalization efforts with Israel until a complete ceasefire and justice for Palestinians are achieved.
- Activate collective defense mechanisms under the OIC Charter to protect any member state under aggression—including Iran and Palestine.
MAPIM further emphasizes that if Muslim nations can unite in defending Iran’s sovereignty, they must also unite in ending the genocide in Gaza. The credibility of the OIC and its member states rests not in their rhetoric but in their readiness to act when the Ummah is under siege.
Declarations must now lead to decisions. Condemnation must be followed by consequences.
Gaza is bleeding. The time for action is now.
Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid
