ISRAEL’S SECURITY CABINET APPROVES *SETTLEMENT *EXPANSION
THE INTERN ATIONAL COMMUNITY MUST CONDEMN AND APPLY REAL PRESSURE

Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia (MAPIM) strongly condemns the decision by Israel’s Security Cabinet to approve further expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.

This decision is not an administrative matter. It is a deliberate act of aggression, a grave violation of international law, and a direct assault on the possibility of justice and peace in Palestine.

Settlement expansion is a war crime.

It is prohibited under the Fourth Geneva Convention.

It has been repeatedly condemned by the United Nations.

Yet Israel continues to act with impunity because it is shielded from consequences.

SETTLEMENT EXPANSION IS COLONIAL ANNEXATION

Israeli settlements are not housing projects.

They are instruments of colonial domination.

Every new settlement:

●Steals Palestinian land
Fragments Palestinian communities
●Entrenches apartheid
●Makes a viable Palestinian state impossible

Approving settlement expansion during a period of genocide in Gaza and intensified repression in the West Bank exposes the true intent of the occupation: permanent annexation, not security.

SECURITY IS BEING USED AS A FALSE PRETEXT

Israel consistently invokes “security” to justify actions that:

●Displace civilians
●Destroy livelihoods
●Alter demographics
●Rewrite borders by force
●Security cannot be built on dispossession.

Security cannot be achieved through ethnic cleansing.

Security cannot exist where one people lives under permanent military rule.

What Israel calls security, the world must recognise as systematic colonisation.

SILENCE IS COMPLICITY

The continued failure of powerful states to hold Israel accountable has emboldened these crimes.
Statements of concern are no longer enough.

Diplomatic language without consequences has become a license for expansion.

The world must acknowledge an uncomfortable truth:
Israeli impunity is sustained by international inaction.

WHAT THE WORLD MUST DO NOW

MAPIM calls on governments, international institutions, and global civil society to move from rhetoric to action:

●Publicly and unequivocally condemn settlement expansion
●Impose diplomatic and economic consequences for violations of international law
●Enforce bans on trade and business linked to illegal settlements
●Support international legal processes, including at the International Criminal Court
●Protect Palestinian civilians from further displacement and violence

Anything less is a betrayal of international law and human conscience.

A TEST OF GLOBAL CREDIBILITY

This is no longer only about Palestine.

It is about whether international law still matters.

It is about whether occupation and apartheid can be normalised.

It is about whether the global order applies rules selectively.

If Israel is allowed to expand settlements without consequence, then the message to the world is clear:
power overrides law.

CONCLUSION

Settlement expansion is not peace-building.
It is a declaration of permanent occupation.

MAPIM stands firmly with the Palestinian people and calls on the international community to act with courage, consistency, and principle.

Justice delayed has become justice denied.
The time for pressure is now.
