PRESS STATEMENT
Kuala Lumpur | 1 March 2026
MAPIM expresses outrage and deep condemnation following reports presented at the United Nations Security Council indicating that more than one hundred children were killed in a US – Israel military strike on a school in Minab, southern Iran.
If these reports are confirmed through independent investigation, the attack represents a grave violation of international humanitarian law and may constitute a war crime under xthe Geneva Conventions, which explicitly protect civilians, schools and non military infrastructure during armed conflict.
The world must confront an unavoidable moral question:
Is this what is meant by “freeing Iran”?
The deliberate or reckless use of military force that results in mass civilian casualties, particularly involving children, can never be justified under any doctrine of security or geopolitical strategy.
MAPIM states clearly that political leadership that authorizes military aggression carries direct responsibility for its consequences.
The United States administration under President Donald Trump, together with Israel, must bear full responsibility for any unlawful attacks resulting in civilian deaths and humanitarian destruction.
The killing of children is not collateral damage. It is a human tragedy that demands accountability.
MAPIM warns that such escalation risks destabilizing the entire region and could ignite broader conflict with severe global consequences, including threats to international security, economic stability and civilian safety across multiple countries.
The international community must act immediately:
●Establish an independent international investigation under United Nations authority.
●Demand immediate▪︎ cessation of attacks against civilian infrastructure.
●Enforce accountability mechanisms under international law including potential war crimes investigations.
●Uphold the principle that no state is above international humanitarian obligations.
Selective application of international law destroys the credibility of the global system. Justice must apply equally regardless of political power.
The children of Iran deserve the same protection as the children of any nation. Humanity cannot be divided by geopolitics.
MAPIM reiterates that attacks against civilians, whether in Iran, Gaza or elsewhere, violate universal moral principles and international legal norms.
History will remember who defended innocent life and who justified its destruction.
