AL AQSA COMPLETELY CLOSED BY FORCE: CAN THE UMMAH REMAIN SILENT AND ACTIONLESS?
Kuala Lumpur | 2 March 2026
MAPIM, Alliance of World Mosque in Defence of Al Aqsa (MANAR), and Secretariat Himpunan Ulama Rantau Asia (SHURA) express grave concern and deep outrage over the unprecedented forced closure of Al Aqsa Mosque by Israeli occupation authorities.
The total restriction of access to one of Islam’s holiest sanctuaries represents a dangerous escalation that violates religious freedom, international law, and the historical status of Al Quds Al Sharif.
Preventing worshippers from entering Al Aqsa is not merely a security measure. It is an act of collective punishment and an attempt to impose control over a sacred religious site that belongs to the Muslim Ummah.
Al Aqsa Mosque holds profound spiritual significance for Muslims worldwide. Any aggression against it is felt across the Ummah. Silence in the face of such actions risks normalizing violations that threaten the sanctity and historical identity of the holy city.
MAPIM, MANAR, and SHURA stress that continued restrictions, incursions, and administrative control over Al Aqsa create conditions that could trigger wider regional instability.
The responsibility to protect religious sanctities and ensure freedom of worship must be upheld by the international community.
We call upon Muslim leaders, governments, scholars, and civil society organizations worldwide to:
- Strongly condemn the forced closure and violations against Al Aqsa Mosque.
- Mobilize diplomatic pressure to restore full access for worshippers immediately.
- Strengthen global awareness regarding threats to Al Quds and its holy sites.
- Support peaceful advocacy efforts defending religious freedom and human rights.
- Promote unity within the Ummah in defending sacred institutions.
We also call upon international organizations, including the United Nations and UNESCO, to intervene urgently to safeguard the religious status quo and prevent further escalation.
Al Aqsa is not a local issue. It is a global moral responsibility.
The Ummah cannot remain indifferent when sacred sanctities are threatened.
MAPIM, MANAR, and SHURA reaffirm their commitment to peaceful advocacy, justice, and the protection of religious rights.
May peace and justice prevail.
