PRESS STATEMENT
2 Syawal 1447H | 22 March 2026
Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia (MAPIM) expresses its full support for the call made by the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, for the establishment of an Islamic security structure to replace foreign military presence in West Asia.
MAPIM firmly asserts that the continued hosting of foreign military bases in Muslim countries has not brought stability, peace, or security to the region. Instead, it has entrenched dependency, intensified geopolitical tensions, and enabled prolonged conflicts that have devastated Muslim lands.
FOREIGN MILITARY PRESENCE: A SOURCE OF INSTABILITY
For decades, the presence of foreign military forces in the Muslim world has:
●Undermined national sovereignty
●Entrenched external control over regional security
●Turned Muslim territories into theatres of proxy wars
●Enabled aggression against fellow Muslim nations
The reality is clear: foreign military bases do not protect the region, they control it.
TIME FOR A NEW ISLAMIC SECURITY PARADIGM
MAPIM calls for a decisive shift towards a Muslim-led security architecture grounded in:
●Mutual respect among Muslim nations
●Non-aggression and internal sovereignty
●Collective defense against external threats
●Strategic independence from global power blocs
The Muslim world must no longer outsource its security to powers whose interests are not aligned with the stability and dignity of the Ummah.
ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ISLAMIC SECURITY ALLIANCE
MAPIM proposes the urgent formation of a Unified Islamic Security Alliance, which should include:
●Collective Defense Framework
●A coordinated system to safeguard Muslim nations from external aggression
●Joint Military Cooperation
Shared training, intelligence, and strategic planning
Regional Conflict Resolution Mechanism
●Preventing intra-Muslim conflicts and promoting reconciliation
●Gradual Withdrawal of Foreign Military Bases
●A structured roadmap to restore full sovereignty
UMMAH UNITY AS THE FOUNDATION OF SECURITY
The call for an Islamic security structure is not merely strategic. It is civilizational.
Without unity, the Muslim world will continue to be fragmented and vulnerable. With unity, it can emerge as a force for stability, justice, and peace.
MAPIM reiterates that conflicts among Muslim nations only serve the interests of external powers, particularly the Zionist Israeli regime, which continues to exploit divisions within the Ummah.
A CALL TO ACTION
MAPIM urges:
●Leaders of Muslim countries to initiate immediate dialogue on a unified security framework
●Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to convene an emergency summit on regional security
●Scholars, civil society, and strategic thinkers to support this initiative
●The Ummah to reject division and embrace unity
CONCLUSION
The future of the Muslim world cannot be secured by foreign powers.
It must be built by Muslims themselves.
The time has come to end dependency, reclaim sovereignty, and establish a security order rooted in unity, dignity, and justice.
“Security Through Unity, Sovereignty Through Strength”
