MAPIM Strongly Condemns Israel for Cutting Electricity Supplies
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) joins the Union of Municipalities of the Gaza Strip in strongly condemning Israel’s continued electricity blockade and collective punishment against the Palestinian people. This inhumane act has crippled essential public services, including hospitals, water desalination, and sewage systems, escalating the already dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Ongoing Israeli War Crimes Against Gaza
For 16 months, Israel has waged an unrelenting siege and bombardment campaign, leaving Gaza’s infrastructure in ruins. The Israeli Minister of Energy and Infrastructure has further deepened the crisis by cutting off electricity, causing:
● Shutting down of Gaza’s central desalination plant – leaving millions without clean drinking water.
● Total blackout in hospitals – leading to patient deaths, including infants in incubators and ICU patients.
● Collapse of sanitation and sewage systems – increasing the risk of deadly diseases and epidemics.
● Municipal service paralysis – disabling emergency response, waste management, and public health services.
The deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and constitutes war crimes under the Fourth Geneva Convention.
Israel’s Blockade Preventing Life-Saving Aid
Israel continues to block the entry of essential humanitarian supplies, including:
❌ Fuel & electricity – Gaza has no access to power, leaving hospitals and critical services non-functional.
❌ Medical supplies – lifesaving treatments, medicine, and surgical equipment are being withheld.
❌ Construction materials & spare parts – preventing the repair of water facilities, sewage plants, and roads.
❌ Food & clean water – exacerbating starvation and dehydration among over two million people trapped in Gaza.
This collective punishment is designed to break the will of the Palestinian people and force them into unlivable conditions, a clear violation of UN resolutions and international law.
MAPIM’s Urgent Demands to the International Community
MAPIM calls upon the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), ASEAN, and humanitarian bodies worldwide to take immediate action by:
✅ Pressuring Israel to immediately restore electricity and water supply to Gaza.
✅ Ensuring the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid, including medical supplies, fuel, food, and clean water.
✅ Demanding international protection for Palestinian civilians from ongoing Israeli aggression.
✅ Holding Israel accountable for war crimes through the International Criminal Court (ICC) and International Court of Justice (ICJ).
✅ Enforcing sanctions and boycotts against Israel for its crimes against humanity.
A Call to Humanity: The Time to Act is NOW!
Gaza’s crisis is not a political issue—it is a humanitarian catastrophe. The international community must break its silence and take decisive action to stop this deliberate genocide against the Palestinian people. Failure to act now means complicity in war crimes.
MAPIM urges all governments, NGOs, and humanitarian organizations to intensify efforts in:
✔ Raising awareness about Israel’s crimes and the suffering of Gaza’s people.
✔ Mobilizing mass protests and global campaigns to pressure world leaders into action.
✔ Supporting Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) as a peaceful means to end Israeli apartheid.
