PRESS RELEASE
30 March 2025
The Israeli military has admitted to firing on ambulances in the Gaza Strip, an action that Hamas has condemned as a “war crime.”
On Saturday, the Israeli regime’s military acknowledged that it targeted ambulances, claiming they were “suspicious vehicles.” This horrific attack occurred on Sunday, March 23, in the Tal al-Sultan neighborhood in Rafah, Gaza, near the Egyptian border.
Israeli forces launched an offensive in Rafah on March 20, resuming intense aerial bombardments on Gaza. The military claimed that its troops had opened fire on Hamas vehicles, stating they had “eliminated several Hamas fighters.”
However, minutes later, additional vehicles—including ambulances and fire trucks—advanced toward the troops. Israeli forces opened fire, killing first responders who were there to rescue the wounded. Shockingly, the Israeli military later admitted that some of the vehicles it fired upon were ambulances.
BLATANT VIOLATION OF INTERNATIONAL LAW
Hamas spokesman Basem Naim stated:
“Israel carried out a deliberate and brutal massacre against Civil Defense and Palestinian Red Crescent teams in Rafah. The targeted killing of rescue workers—who are protected under international humanitarian law—constitutes a flagrant violation of the Geneva Conventions and a war crime.”
Similarly, Tom Fletcher, head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), denounced the Israeli regime’s brutal actions, stating:
“Since March 18, Israeli airstrikes in densely populated areas have killed hundreds of children and other civilians.
Patients were killed in their hospital beds. Ambulances were shot at. First responders were murdered.
If the basic principles of humanitarian law still count, the international community must act while it can to uphold them.”
THE WORLD MUST TAKE ACTION NOW
We, at MAPIM, strongly condemn this atrocious and barbaric act by the Israeli regime. This deliberate targeting of medical personnel and first responders is not only a war crime but also a direct challenge to humanity itself.
We call upon:
- The United Nations to immediately launch an independent investigation into Israel’s war crimes.
- The International Criminal Court (ICC) to enforce its arrest warrants against Israeli leaders responsible for these crimes.
- Governments worldwide to impose severe sanctions on Israel for violating international humanitarian law.
- Muslims and human rights activists worldwide to mobilize and raise their voices against this genocide.
It is no longer acceptable for the world to merely issue statements of condemnation. Action must be taken NOW.
ISRAEL’S WAR CRIMES MUST BE STOPPED – THE WORLD CANNOT REMAIN SILENT
We strongly condemn the deliberate and systematic massacres committed by Israel against the Palestinian people in Gaza. The latest admission by the Israeli military that it targeted ambulances and rescue teams is an undeniable confirmation of its war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The brutal killing of medical workers, bombing of aid centers, and the use of starvation as a weapon are clear violations of international law, the Geneva Conventions, and basic human decency. These atrocities expose the Israeli regime as a terrorist state that disregards all norms of humanity.
WE DEMAND IMMEDIATE ACTION
We call on the United Nations, the International Criminal Court (ICC), and world governments to take immediate and decisive action to:
1️⃣ Enforce the ICC arrest warrants against Israeli war criminals, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
2️⃣ Implement economic and military sanctions against Israel for its ongoing genocide against Palestinians.
3️⃣ Immediately lift the blockade on Gaza and ensure unhindered humanitarian aid access.
4️⃣ Hold the United States accountable for its direct complicity in these crimes through its unconditional military and financial support to Israel.
5️⃣ Mobilize an international boycott and divestment campaign against Israeli institutions involved in war crimes.
THIS IS A MOMENT OF TRUTH FOR HUMANITY
The global silence and inaction in the face of Israel’s genocide are a shameful betrayal of justice. If the world continues to turn a blind eye, it will bear the guilt of complicity in one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes in modern history.
We warn that the longer the international community fails to act, the more emboldened Israel will become in its slaughter of the Palestinian people.
We urge all Muslims, human rights activists, and justice-seeking individuals worldwide to rise in united resistance against this genocide. We must demand that Israel be held accountable and that Palestine be freed from occupation and oppression.
MAPIM stands firm in its commitment to defend Palestine, no matter the cost.
STOP THE GENOCIDE. END THE OCCUPATION. BRING JUSTICE TO PALESTINE.
