Press Release
12th May 2025
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FORCE OPEN THE RAFAH CROSSING IMMEDIATELY!
ARAB, MUSLIM STATES AND UN PEACEKEEPING FORCES MUST PROTECT HUMANITARIAN ORGANIZATIONS TO DELIVER AID NOW!
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) is outraged by the catastrophic humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza due to the brutal, inhumane blockade imposed by the Israeli occupation. The recent press statement No. (818) issued by the Government Media Office in Gaza lays bare the horrifying reality:
70 days of full closure of Gaza’s borders, blocking 39,000 humanitarian aid trucks carrying vital supplies—food, medicine, fuel.
40 days of bakery shutdowns, leaving 2.4 million civilians without access to bread, their most basic staple.
65,000 children now at immediate risk of death due to acute malnutrition and starvation.
This deliberate use of starvation as a weapon of war is a direct violation of international humanitarian law and constitutes genocide as defined in Article 2 of the 1948 Genocide Convention.
MAPIM:
- Strongly condemns the Israeli regime’s continued crimes against humanity through engineered famine, medical blockade, and mass civilian targeting.
- Demands the immediate opening of the Rafah Crossing to allow unrestricted humanitarian access.
- Calls for urgent deployment of Arab, Muslim and UN Peacekeeping Forces to safeguard aid delivery and humanitarian personnel.
- Holds accountable Israel and its supporters—USA, UK, Germany, and France—for the war crimes being committed with impunity.
- Urges the UN Security Council and the International Criminal Court to initiate war crimes prosecution against Israeli leaders and military command.
- Calls on all nations, civil society, and humanitarian networks to mobilize in coordinated pressure to end the siege and prevent a genocide.
MAPIM warns that international silence and inaction now will be judged by history as complicity. We call upon ASEAN, OIC, NAM, and BRICS nations to immediately convene emergency actions. The world must act decisively, or risk witnessing the death of an entire people under occupation and siege.
Gaza cannot wait. Rafah must be opened now.
