PRESS RELEASE
Date: 1st June 2025
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the cynical and deceptive use of so-called “humanitarian aid” operations by the United States and Israel as a smokescreen to prolong and intensify the systematic annihilation of Gaza.
Starvation as a Weapon of War
After more than 600 days of a brutal and illegal siege, the 2.3 million people of Gaza now face mass starvation, with the United Nations warning that the entire population is at risk of famine. The UN’s mid-May alert that one in every five Palestinians in Gaza is experiencing starvation has now escalated into a full-scale humanitarian catastrophe.
This atrocity is not incidental. It is deliberate. Israel’s tight control and restriction of aid, allowing only a symbolic trickle after months of total blockade, is a form of collective punishment — a war crime under international law.
The World Food Programme (WFP), which has food stockpiled near Gaza sufficient for two months of feeding the entire population, has been blocked from fully delivering aid, resorting instead to dangerous nighttime drops. On Friday alone, WFP trucks were stopped by desperate civilians, exposing the utter failure of controlled and dignified aid delivery.
US-Israel’s Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF): A Militarized Aid Charade
The so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a US- and Israeli-sponsored initiative, has become the centerpiece of a propaganda operation masquerading as relief. Aid organizations and human rights groups have warned that the GHF:
●Violates humanitarian neutrality
●Militarizes aid distribution
●Fails to meet minimum humanitarian standards
Eyewitnesses and survivors recount horrifying scenes:
“What they are saying about their will to feed the people of Gaza are lies. They neither feed people nor give them anything to drink.” — Layla al-Masri, Displaced Gaza Resident
“There’s no flour, no food, no bread… If you are strong, you get aid. If not, you leave empty-handed.” — Abdel Qader Rabie, Palestinian Civilian
Disturbingly, reports are emerging that Palestinians have gone missing after approaching GHF distribution points, including cases near the Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza. These incidents raise serious concerns of enforced disappearances and warrant immediate independent investigation.
Ongoing Bombing and Mass Displacement
While pretending to “deliver aid,” the Israeli military continues to bomb and level Gaza, targeting homes and civilian shelters. Over the last 48 hours alone:
● At least 60 homes bombed in Gaza City and northern Gaza
●20 more Palestinians killed on Saturday
●Over 3,900 Palestinians killed since Israel violated the ceasefire in March 2025
●Forced evacuations have surged. In the past two weeks, nearly 200,000 people have been displaced, with military orders now covering nearly all of Gaza, turning it into a patchwork of death zones and displacement corridors.
These actions are not humanitarian. They are calculated war crimes designed to depopulate and destroy Gaza under the pretense of military necessity and “humanitarian concern”.
MAPIM’s Urgent Demands
MAPIM calls on the international community, especially Muslim nations and global civil society, to:
- Reject the false humanitarian narrative pushed by the US-Israel alliance.
- Demand an immediate, unconditional ceasefire and full, secure land access for UN and independent humanitarian agencies.
- Condemn the weaponization of aid and initiate independent investigations into the conduct of the GHF.
- Pressure for international accountability — through the UN, ICC, and ICJ — for Israel’s crimes against humanity and for complicity by its sponsors.
- Intensify the global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign as a peaceful resistance strategy. Conclusion
Gaza does not need militarized crumbs of aid. Gaza needs the bombing to stop, the siege to be lifted, the perpetrators to be held accountable, and the people to be free. The so-called “humanitarian” aid operations by the US and Israel are nothing more than a delaying tactic to complete genocide — and the world must not be complicit.
Justice, not deception. Liberation, not propaganda. Humanity, not hypocrisy.
