MAPIM CONDEMNS TRUMP’S REFUSAL TO BACK G7 CALL FOR DE-ESCALATION — WAR WITH IRAN RISKS GLOBAL CATASTROPHE

The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) strongly condemns the decision by U.S. President Donald Trump to reject the G7 joint statement calling for Israel to de-escalate its aggression against Iran.
Trump’s refusal to endorse the G7’s efforts and his open support for Israel’s continuing military campaign is not only reckless and immoral, but it dangerously escalates tensions in an already fragile global security environment. This move signals a clear endorsement of war crimes, further emboldening Israel’s illegal actions and deepening the humanitarian crisis in the region.
MAPIM asserts that:
The world is on the brink of a third world war. With Iran now actively responding to Israeli aggression and regional powers being dragged into a proxy conflict, Trump’s stance may trigger a catastrophic chain reaction across the Middle East and beyond.
This is not about defending democracy. It is about enabling genocide.
Trump’s position legitimizes the continued Israeli assault on sovereign nations and civilians under the false pretext of security, disregarding international law and global peace mechanisms.
MAPIM calls on global civil society, especially in the Global South, to rise in protest.
We must not allow warmongers to dictate the future of our world. Silence is complicity.
MAPIM demands:
- Immediate G7 consensus without U.S. obstruction to pressure Israel into a ceasefire and de-escalation.
- A global anti-war movement to stop the escalation before it spirals into a global conflict.
- The UN General Assembly to urgently convene to isolate actors sabotaging peace and enabling war crimes.
We urge all nations, movements, and peace-loving people of the world to resist the warmongering agenda led by Trump and Israel, and to stand for a just, multipolar world where no single power decides the fate of humanity.
