🇲🇾 MAPIM: MALAYSIA’S FOREIGN POLICY MUST REFLECT ITS MORAL COMMITMENT TO PALESTINE AND DENOUNCE U.S. COMPLICITY IN ISRAEL’S GENOCIDE
Kuala Lumpur | 13 July 2025
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) calls on the Government of Malaysia to urgently realign its foreign policy posture in accordance with the moral and legal responsibilities arising from the United States’ complicity in Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people.
Malaysia’s long-standing support for the Palestinian cause must now evolve into a more assertive and unapologetically principled foreign policy, particularly as global awareness and condemnation of the atrocities in Gaza deepen, supported by mounting evidence in international courts, UN investigations, and global civil society reports.
Key Assertions by MAPIM:
- The United States is not a neutral actor — it is a primary enabler of Israel’s crimes through military funding, diplomatic protection, and political endorsements.
- The ICJ’s ruling of plausible genocide, the ICC’s arrest warrants, and Francesca Albanese’s UN reports affirm beyond doubt that Israel’s war crimes are systematically sustained by U.S. support.
- Malaysia must not normalize diplomatic ties or maintain uncritical bilateral relations with any administration that openly supports ethnic cleansing and occupation.
- Foreign policy must reflect the values of Malaysia’s people, who overwhelmingly stand in solidarity with Palestine and reject genocide, apartheid, and occupation. 📌 MAPIM URGES THE GOVERNMENT TO:
❗ Publicly denounce U.S. complicity in the Israeli genocide and war crimes.
❗ Review diplomatic engagements with U.S. agencies and representatives involved in military or political support to Israel.
❗ Lead a coalition within ASEAN and OIC to push for international sanctions on Israel and scrutinize U.S. complicity in legal forums.
❗ Reject the presence of war crime enablers in any ASEAN or Malaysian-hosted platform.
“Malaysia’s moral credibility hinges on whether it chooses to be a voice for the voiceless — or a silent bystander to genocide.”
— Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid, President of MAPIM
🕊️ A Foreign Policy with a Conscience
MAPIM affirms that this is no longer a matter of routine diplomacy. It is a matter of ethical positioning in the face of one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes of the 21st century.
Malaysia must move beyond statements of concern to concrete diplomatic action — by leading calls for accountability, advocating sanctions, and refusing complicity with any power that defends genocide.
“Supporting Palestine is not charity. It is our obligation as Malaysians, as Muslims, and as human beings.”
