ATTEMPT FOR SCHOLARS TO ENDORSE UAE-ISRAEL DEAL IS INSULTING

We object strongly an attempt for several Islamic scholars to endorse a statement regarding the UAE’s pact with Israel, which was put out by an Abu Dhabi-sponsored faith forum last week.

The Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies (FPPMS) put out the statement shortly after the agreement was announced earlier in August.

It praised the “wise” leadership of the UAE’s crown prince and de facto ruler, Mohammed bin Zayed (MBZ), and his efforts to establish stability and a “just and permanent peace” in the Middle East.

The statement was signed by the chairman of the FPPMS, Abdullah bin Bayyah, as well as a number of other members of the organisation.

It claimed to be endorsed by the American Islamic scholars, Aisha al Adawiyah and Hamza Yusuf which both of them denied.

This is an insult to scholars who know very well that endorsing israel is in reality recognizing its illegal status.

We reject Bin Bayyah ‘s , endorsement of the normalisation treaty in his capacity as the head of the Emirati Fatwa Council.

The Emirates Fatwa Council blesses the wise leadership’s acts for the supreme good for the nation and its people,” said in the other statement.

We call all scholars to express their rejection of the statement and state their support for the Palestinian cause.

We urge all Muslim scholar’s organizations worldwide to be principled in their position on the normalization deal with israel.

The scholars should not be trapped by the UAE fatwa council’s position in endorsing the deal.

The Palestine freedom is a fundamental issue and cannot be compromised and betrayed.

Muslim scholars must play a major role in defending the rights of rhe Palestinians especially the holy Baitul Maqdis and Masjid Al Aqsa.
