MAPIM lauds the latest decision by the United Nation (UN) to enforce the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons which enters into force yesterday on January 22, 2021.

With the timely enforcement, now there is a blanket ban on all types of nuclear weapons in 51 countries including Malaysia.

The treaty on the prohibition of nuclear weapons (TPNW) outlaws the creation, ownership and deployment of nuclear weapons by signatory states and places obligations on them to assist other victims of nuclear weapons use and testing.

In parallel to the above, MAPIM further urges all Malaysia’s Member of Parliament (MPs) and the whole of Malaysia’s Civil Society Movement to support the global effort in ending the use of Nuclear weapons around the world.

The time is now for the Malaysian people from all walks of life to show to the world, that the country can punch above its weight on this issue which is affecting humanity, at large.

We should lend our voice to the growing resistance towards the use of Nuclear weapons.

We as Malaysians should say no to the use of nuclear weapons around the world.
