PRESS STATEMENT
15th May 2025
MAPIM CALLS ON CHINA TO PRESSURE ISRAEL – ACT NOW!
“China Must Use Its Global Power to End the Siege on Gaza and Stop the Genocide”
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) welcomes the recent statement by China urging Israel to lift the blockade on Gaza and declaring that humanitarian aid “must not be weaponised.”
However, MAPIM strongly urges China to move beyond diplomatic rhetoric and to act decisively by leveraging its economic, political, and strategic influence over Israel and its allies, particularly the United States, which has consistently shielded Israel’s atrocities.
We fully support China’s rejection of the U.S.-proposed aid distribution plan, which seeks to politicize and control humanitarian relief to Gaza. Such plans are deeply hypocritical and serve to tighten Israel’s stranglehold over a starving and besieged population.
MAPIM firmly states:
- China must use its UN Security Council veto power to block all pro-Israel resolutions and push for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.
- China should consider suspending trade and diplomatic ties with Israel if the regime continues to violate international law.
- Global South nations and BRICS members must unite to reject unilateral U.S. dominance and uphold the rights of Palestinians to self-determination.
MAPIM calls on all developing and Muslim-majority countries to press China to rise as a moral leader on the global stage — not merely an economic superpower. Gaza is being slaughtered before the eyes of the world — silence is complicity.
ACT NOW – GAZA CANNOT WAIT.
