📣 MAPIM: WORLD MEDIA WORKERS MUST RISE AND CALL FOR ACCOUNTABILITY AND INTERNATIONAL BOYCOTT AGAINST ISRAEL
âťťWhen journalists are murdered for telling the truth, silence becomes complicity.âťž
MAPIM expresses our deepest outrage and condemnation over the killing of four more Palestinian journalists in Gaza — bringing the total number of media workers martyred since October 2023 to 225. This appalling toll reflects Israel’s systematic war against truth, accountability, and free speech.
The slain journalists — Suleiman Hajjaj, Ismail Baddah, Samir Al-Rifai, and Yousef Al-Nakhalah — were not combatants. They were the voice of the oppressed, the chroniclers of truth amidst horror, and the eyes of the world in the face of genocide. Their deliberate targeting is a war crime.
Israel’s war is not only against civilians — it is a war against witnesses.
MAPIM stands with the Government Media Office of Gaza and echoes its demand that the international community, especially media institutions, take immediate, coordinated action:
MAPIM Urges:
- International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), Reporters Without Borders (RSF), and national press unions to:
Publicly condemn Israel’s systematic targeting of media workers.
Launch urgent international investigations and campaigns for accountability.
- A Global Media Boycott Campaign Against Israel, including:
Suspending all journalistic collaborations with Israeli government-linked media.
Refusing participation in Israeli-sponsored media forums or PR efforts.
Amplifying Palestinian narratives and eyewitness reporting.
- International Legal Action:
Bring the case of murdered Palestinian journalists to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Demand international arrest warrants for Israeli military and political leaders responsible for these crimes.
- Media Solidarity Days:
Dedicate global newsroom blackouts and coordinated digital campaigns to honor the fallen journalists.
Hold joint press conferences calling for press freedom in Palestine.
- Naming and Honoring the Martyrs:
Each martyred journalist must be remembered, profiled, and honored. The attempt to erase their voices must fail.
To the World’s Media :
This is your moment. If you believe in press freedom, now is the time to rise.
Silence will not shield you — it will only embolden tyrants. Gaza is not just a humanitarian crisis. It is the frontline of a global war on journalism, justice, and humanity.
MAPIM reaffirms its commitment to stand by Palestinian journalists and media institutions. We call on all professional and ethical media organizations, especially in the Global South, Muslim world, and conscience-driven societies, to unite and take a stand:
📢 Boycott Israel. Expose the truth. Demand justice.
📢 Defend journalism. Defend Gaza.
