Press Release

“ SEVENTY THOUSAND LIVES TAKEN: WHEN GENOCIDE IS ADMITTED, SILENCE BECOMES COMPLICITY”
What Is the World Going to Do About Gaza?
Kuala Lumpur | For Immediate Release
Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia (MAPIM) expresses grave alarm and moral outrage following Israel’s admission that more than 70,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza.
This is not a statistic. This is the systematic destruction of an entire people, carried out before the eyes of the world.
An admission of this scale confirms what humanitarian organisations, independent observers, and survivors have been saying for months: Gaza is not a battlefield, it is a graveyard. The killing of tens of thousands of civilians, the majority of whom are women and children, constitutes a crime of historic magnitude.
No military narrative can justify this level of devastation. No political interest can excuse the erasure of human life.
This moment marks a moral turning point. When a state admits mass killing, the international community is no longer confronting allegations, it is confronting a documented atrocity.
From this point forward, silence is not neutrality, it is complicity.
The world now faces a defining question:
Will international law exist only on paper, or will it be enforced without fear or favour?
For decades, Israel has acted with near total impunity, shielded by powerful allies and paralysed global institutions.
This protection has allowed a culture of disregard for human life to flourish. What we are witnessing is not an isolated incident. It is the predictable outcome of unchecked power, militarised ideology, and the systematic dehumanisation of Palestinians.
MAPIM stresses that accountability is no longer optional. Justice delayed is not only justice denied, it becomes justice destroyed.
We therefore call upon the international community to take immediate and decisive action:
- Immediate international protection for the people of Gaza under a UN mandated mechanism.
- Full criminal accountability through the International Criminal Court for all those responsible, regardless of rank or nationality.
- An end to all military, financial, and political support that enables further violence.
- Comprehensive sanctions and arms embargoes against Israel until it complies with international law.
- An independent international investigation with unrestricted access to Gaza.
To the governments that continue to provide weapons, political cover, and silence: history will remember not only those who committed these crimes, but also those who allowed them to continue.
The blood of Gaza is a stain on the conscience of the world.
This is not a conflict between two sides. It is a crime against humanity.
MAPIM stands with the people of Gaza and with all those who demand justice, dignity, and the sanctity of life.
The world must choose: justice or complicity. There is no third path.
