PRESS RELEASE
Kuala Lumpur | 4 March 2026
We strongly condemns the closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem and the growing extremist calls by Zionist elements advocating the destruction of the holy sanctuary.
Reports confirm that Israeli authorities have sealed access to the mosque compound and prevented Muslim worshippers from entering, including restrictions during Ramadan .
Al-Aqsa is the third holiest site in Islam and any attempt to close, desecrate or threaten its existence is not merely a political issue. It is a direct provocation against the faith, dignity and rights of Muslims worldwide.
MAPIM views the closure of Al-Aqsa and extremist calls for its destruction as an act of aggression against the Islamic world and a grave violation of international law and religious freedom.
Escalation of War in the Region
The situation is further aggravated by the ongoing war in West Asia following the U.S.–Israel military attacks on Iran, which resulted in the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior figures.
This dangerous escalation threatens to widen the conflict across the region and destabilize global peace.
MAPIM stresses that political assassinations and military aggression will not bring stability or justice to the region.
Global Call for Solidarity
MAPIM calls upon Muslims worldwide and all people of conscience to:
- Condemn the closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque
- Reject calls to destroy the holy sanctuary
- Demand international protection for Jerusalem’s sacred sites
- Oppose war and aggression in West Asia
This struggle is not only a Muslim concern. It is a matter of defending human dignity, international law and freedom of worship.
Global Demonstration on Al-Quds Day
MAPIM supports the call for global peaceful demonstrations on Al-Quds Day to defend the sanctity of Jerusalem and protest ongoing aggression in the region.
In Malaysia, a solidarity gathering will be held at the United States Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
Date: 13 March 2026
Location: United States Embassy, Kuala Lumpur
The demonstration will serve as a peaceful expression of solidarity with the Palestinian people and a call for justice and protection of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Final Message
MAPIM reiterates that the Muslim Ummah and all people of conscience must not remain silent in the face of injustice.
The sanctity of Al-Aqsa must be defended.
The aggression against Iran and the destabilization of the region must stop.
Peace can only be achieved through justice, respect for international law and protection of sacred sites.
Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid
President
Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia (MAPIM)
