A precious jewel of the Ummah has returned to his Lord.
A mind of rare brilliance has departed,
Leaving behind a legacy of light.
Tan Sri Professor Syed Naquib Al Attas,
A philosopher without equal in the Malay world,
Who guided generations through the depth of his thought
And the majesty of his enduring works.
Through his pen and wisdom,
Knowledge was never merely information,
But a sacred trust that refines the soul
And restores dignity to civilization.
He taught us that true knowledge
Must be anchored in adab and faith,
That intellect without virtue is incomplete,
And that civilization rises through moral clarity.
In his writings we found direction,
In his ideas we found courage,
In his vision we rediscovered
The meaning of an Islamic worldview.
Today the Malay world mourns his passing,
Yet his thought will not fade.
It lives in every page he wrote,
In every mind awakened by his words.
A scholar has departed,
But a civilization he nurtured continues.
May Allah grant him mercy,
Elevate his station among the righteous,
And make his knowledge a light
For generations yet to come.
