PRESS STATEMENT
2nd Syawwal 1447
22nd March 2026
Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia (MAPIM) expresses its full support for the message delivered by the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, on the occasion of Eid al Fitri, in which he emphasized that Iran does not seek conflict with Muslim countries, because such confrontation would only serve the interests of the Israeli regime.
MAPIM regards this message as timely, wise, and deeply responsible in the current climate of grave turmoil facing the Muslim world. At a moment when the Ummah is confronted by genocide in Gaza, desecration in Al Aqsa, destabilization across West Asia, and relentless foreign interference in Muslim lands, the call to avoid division among Muslim nations carries immense moral and strategic weight.
We affirm that any hostility, tension, or military confrontation among Muslim countries will only weaken the collective strength of the Ummah and open wider space for the Zionist Israeli regime and its allies to continue their aggression, occupation, and expansionist agenda.
Disunity among Muslims has long been exploited by external powers to fracture the region, drain its resources, and divert attention from the central cause of Palestine.
The statement by President Pezeshkian reflects an important principle that the Muslim world must urgently uphold: our differences must never be manipulated into conflicts that benefit the enemies of Islam. Dialogue, restraint, mutual respect, and strategic unity are now more necessary than ever.
MAPIM therefore calls on all Muslim leaders, governments, scholars, civil society movements, and institutions across the Ummah to respond positively to this spirit of unity. The priority today must be to strengthen solidarity among Muslim nations, reject sectarian incitement, prevent regional fragmentation, and focus collective efforts on ending the ongoing crimes committed by Israel against the Palestinian people.
Eid al Fitri should be a moment not only of celebration, but also of reflection on the urgent duty to heal divisions within the Ummah. This is the time to build a united moral front against الاحتلال, genocide, war crimes, and all forms of imperial domination imposed on Muslim societies.
MAPIM believes that the path forward for the Muslim world lies in principled unity, political maturity, and unwavering commitment to justice. We commend the Iranian President’s message as a constructive call that deserves the serious attention of all who seek peace with dignity and strength for the Ummah.
Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid
