Bismillahirrahmanirrahim
The Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia (MAPIM), the Alliance of World Mosques in Defence of Al-Aqsa (MANAR), and SHURA express our strongest condemnation over the repeated desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque by extremist Israeli leadership, most recently led by Itamar Ben-Gvir under armed protection.
This act is not an isolated provocation. It is part of a systematic strategy to erode the historical, legal and spiritual status of Al-Aqsa, and to impose a new reality through force.
A Dangerous Escalation Against the Ummah
The storming of Al-Aqsa, accompanied by settlers performing rituals in violation of long-standing arrangements, signals:
● A direct challenge to Islamic sovereignty over Al-Aqsa
● A calculated attempt to normalize occupation of a sacred site
● A deliberate provocation to ignite religious conflict
The statement by Ben-Gvir claiming “ownership” of the compound reflects a colonial mindset that seeks to rewrite history and erase Muslim identity in Al-Quds.
Al-Aqsa is Not a Local Issue – It is a Global Obligation
Al-Aqsa is not merely a Palestinian concern.
It is:
● The first Qiblah of Islam
The third holiest mosque
● A symbol of dignity and unity of the Ummah
● Any violation of Al-Aqsa is an attack on the entire Muslim world.
Silence is no longer neutrality. Silence is complicity.
The Collapse of the Status Quo
The repeated incursions, restrictions on worshippers, closure of the mosque for 40 days, and prevention of Eid prayers clearly demonstrate:
● The collapse of the 1967 status quo arrangement
● The failure of international guarantees
● The impotence of global institutions to protect sacred heritage
This is no longer a question of “management of a holy site”
It is a question of systematic takeover.
A Call for Strategic Compromise and Unified Action
Muslim nations must now move beyond rhetorical condemnation.
We call for:
- Immediate Emergency OIC Summit
To formulate a unified political and security doctrine for the protection of Al-Aqsa. - Binding Collective Commitment
Muslim countries must reach a strategic compromise among themselves, setting aside internal divisions to prioritize Al-Aqsa as a red line. - Deployment of International Protection Mechanism
Push for a UN mandated or OIC led protection force to safeguard Al-Aqsa and Palestinian civilians. - Economic and Diplomatic Pressure
Coordinated sanctions
Suspension of normalization agreements
Strategic use of energy and trade leverage - Global Mosque Mobilization (MANAR Initiative)
Every mosque must become:
A center of awareness
A hub for mobilization
A platform for sustained solidarity action
- Legal Action Under International Law
Immediate escalation of cases at:
● International Court of Justice (ICJ)
● International Criminal Court (ICC)
A Turning Point for the Ummah
What is unfolding today is not just aggression.
It is a test.
A test of:
Leadership
Unity
Moral courage
If Al-Aqsa falls into full control of occupation forces, it will mark one of the greatest failures in modern Islamic history.
Final Message
We declare with full conviction:
Al-Aqsa is a sacred trust (amanah).
It cannot be negotiated away.
It must be defended with unity, strategy, and unwavering resolve.
The Ummah must rise above divisions.
History will not remember our statements.
History will remember whether we acted.
“And do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are true believers.”
