Military Intervention is Now Inevitable – The Global Majority of Nations Must Act to Prevent Catastrophe in Gaza
Date: 23rd August 2025
The Malaysian Consultative Council for Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) issues this urgent and unequivocal call in light of the latest statement by the Palestinian Ministry of Interior and National Security that the Israeli occupation is preparing to besiege and re-invade Gaza City, effectively sentencing 1.2 million people to death and forced displacement.
This amounts to a premeditated genocide and a war crime of the highest order. The continuation of the occupation’s criminal campaign of daily massacres, starvation, forced displacement, and the systematic destruction of Gaza’s cities is a direct affront to all humanity and to every principle of international law.
MAPIM stresses that :
- The international community has failed – after 23 months of massacres – to restrain Israel’s barbarity. Continued silence and inaction are complicit in the slaughter of civilians.
- Military intervention is inevitable if the world is serious about preventing a historic catastrophe. Diplomatic condemnations and toothless resolutions have proven utterly insufficient to stop Israel’s extermination campaign.
- The Global Majority of nations, particularly those in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), BRICS+, African Union, ASEAN, and Latin America, must immediately mobilize an international protection force to break the siege, stop the massacres, and protect the 1.2 million Palestinians trapped in Gaza City.
- Failure to act now will allow Israel to complete the destruction of Gaza as it has already done in Rafah, Khan Younis, and the northern governorates, leaving an uninhabitable wasteland and rendering the entire Strip a graveyard. MAPIM calls upon:
● Muslim-majority countries to fulfill their religious and moral obligation to defend Palestine, not just with words but with action.
● OIC and Arab League to urgently convene and operationalize collective defense measures.
● BRICS+ and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to leverage their political and military capacities to intervene and restrain Israel’s unchecked aggression.
● The United Nations General Assembly to invoke Uniting for Peace Resolution 377A to authorize immediate international protection for Gaza’s civilians.
History will record that at this decisive moment, nations either rose to stop a genocide or remained paralyzed in cowardice and complicity. MAPIM asserts that the time for hesitation is over.
Military intervention to save Gaza’s population is no longer a choice – it is an obligation of humanity.
