STATEMENT OF CONDOLENCE
Kuala Lumpur | 18 March 2026
The Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia (MAPIM) expresses its deepest condolences and profound sorrow over the martyrdom of Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family, the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the people of Iran who have lost a distinguished leader, a committed statesman and a steadfast defender of national sovereignty and dignity.
His martyrdom comes at a time of heightened aggression and escalating conflict driven by external forces that continue to destabilise the region. The loss of such a towering figure reflects the heavy price being paid by nations that stand firm against domination and coercion.
MAPIM strongly condemns any act of targeted killing that violates international law and undermines the principles of justice and sovereignty. Such actions only deepen instability and fuel further conflict.
Ali Larijani will be remembered for his intellectual leadership, strategic vision and unwavering commitment to defending his nation’s independence in the face of immense geopolitical pressure. His legacy will continue to inspire resistance, resilience and unity among those who uphold justice.
We pray that Allah grants him the highest مقام (station) among the martyrs, forgives his shortcomings and grants strength and patience to his loved ones and the people of Iran.
Indeed, those who are killed in the path of justice and truth are not dead, but alive in the sight of their Lord.
MAPIM stands in solidarity with the people of Iran in this moment of grief and reaffirms its call for an immediate end to aggression, respect for sovereignty and adherence to international law.
