Combating Exenophobia In Community Workshop

Combating Exenophobia In Community workshop was held on the 28l7th June 2020 at Kampong Pondok village in Merbok, Kedah Malaysia organised by MAPIM, SALIMAH, ABIM, WADAH.

It was attended by 70 participants from the UNHCR, IOM , MSF, 2 MPs and several Ngos representatives from Kedah and Penang.

A statement was issued at the end of the half day discussion call for the state and federal governments to form a special committee to be set up to attend to the refugees issue and also to drive the need for a community base protection program for the refugees.

The exenophobic sentiment is rejected but few suggestion were also flagged in the workshop to attend to the misinformation and prejudices of local community towards refugees.
