Critical Six-Month Emergency Response Plan for Gaza Post-Ramadhan
MAPIM and its partners is launching an immediate six-month emergency response following the coming Ramadhan to address the urgent humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Given the extensive destruction and disruption to basic services, the focus will be on ensuring survival and stabilizing essential public services, particularly in the areas of food, shelter, water, sanitation, and electricity.
- Emergency Food Assistance
With thousands of families displaced and supply chains severely impacted, food insecurity remains one of the most pressing challenges. Our immediate intervention will include:
● Daily hot meal distributions for displaced families, children, and vulnerable groups.
● Food aid packages containing staple items such as rice, flour, lentils, canned food, oil, and baby formula to sustain families.
● Support for community kitchens to provide sustainable meal services.
● Nutritional aid for children and pregnant women, ensuring essential vitamins and nutrients are provided.
- Emergency Shelter and Temporary Housing
● With thousands of homes destroyed, many families are left without adequate shelter. Our emergency shelter plan will include:
● Providing temporary shelters, such as tents, container homes, and prefab housing for displaced families.
● Rehabilitating partially damaged homes to make them livable again.
● Establishing safe zones and community shelters to accommodate large displaced populations.
● Support for host families who have taken in displaced persons by providing essential supplies.
- Emergency Water Supply and Sanitation
● The destruction of water pipelines and sanitation systems poses a severe health risk. Our response will prioritize:
● Immediate water distribution through water tankers and bottled water supplies.
● Repairing damaged water pipelines and restoring access to clean drinking water.
● Providing household water purification kits to ensure families have safe water.
,● Restoring sanitation facilities, including building emergency latrines, repairing sewage systems, and deploying portable toilets to prevent disease outbreaks.
● Hygiene kits distribution, including soap, disinfectants, and other essentials to promote sanitary living conditions.
- Restoring Basic Public Amenities: Water & Electricity Supply
The destruction of Gaza’s energy infrastructure has left thousands without power, affecting hospitals, water treatment plants, and daily life. To restore these essential services, we will focus on:
● Deploying emergency power solutions, such as generators and solar energy units, for hospitals, schools, and essential public services.
● Restoring critical water treatment plants to ensure a sustainable supply of clean water.
● Rehabilitating damaged electricity lines where possible, prioritizing hospitals and key community centers.
● Supporting local infrastructure teams with the necessary tools and equipment to restore essential utilities.
- Urgent Medical & Healthcare Assistance
● Gaza’s healthcare system is overwhelmed with casualties, limited medical supplies, and damaged hospitals. The emergency medical plan includes:
● Delivering life-saving medicines, medical kits, and surgical supplies to hospitals and clinics.
● Deploying mobile medical units to reach remote and displaced communities.
● Psychosocial support programs for children and families suffering from trauma.
● Supporting hospitals and clinics with emergency fuel supplies to keep operations running.
- International Collaboration & Aid Coordination
To ensure the success of this six-month emergency phase, MAPIM and its partners will:
● Collaborate with international humanitarian organizations to mobilize resources and logistics.
● Coordinate with local authorities and NGOs to ensure efficient distribution of aid.
● Advocate for humanitarian corridors to allow unimpeded access for relief supplies.
● Establish regional aid collection centers to streamline donations and distribution.
Call to Action
The first six months post-Ramadhan will be critical for saving lives and stabilizing communities in Gaza. We urge governments, humanitarian organizations, and global donors to come forward with urgent assistance to ensure that food, shelter, water, sanitation, and basic public services are restored as quickly as possible.
MAPIM calls upon governments, humanitarian agencies, and the global community to support this mission by contributing resources, expertise, and diplomatic backing to accelerate the rebuilding process.
