Press Release

MANY DIED IN THE MOSQUES WHILE PRAYING THE FRIDAY PRAYER
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) expresses its deepest condolences to the people of Myanmar affected by the devastating earthquake. Our hearts go out to the families who have lost their loved ones, especially those who perished while performing the Friday prayer in mosques.
This tragic event has caused immense suffering, and we stand in solidarity with the victims, particularly the Rohingya Muslim community, who are already facing severe oppression and hardship.
MAPIM urges urgent humanitarian assistance to be mobilized for the affected areas. We call on governments, NGOs, and international relief organizations to provide immediate aid, including medical support, shelter, and food supplies.
As part of our commitment, MAPIM is launching an emergency relief fund to support those impacted by this disaster. We invite all Muslims and global humanitarian networks to join us in providing relief to our suffering brothers and sisters.
We also call on the Myanmar government and international agencies to ensure that aid reaches all communities without discrimination, particularly those who have been historically marginalized.
May Allah grant patience and strength to the victims and accept those who died in prayer as martyrs.
“Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un”
“Verily, to Allah we belong, and to Him, we shall return.”
Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid
President, MAPIM
