Calls for Urgent Investigation and International Accountability
KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations (MAPIM) strongly applauds the legal action taken by a coalition of UK-based human rights lawyers, including prominent barrister Michael Mansfield KC, to investigate ten British nationals accused of committing war crimes in Gaza.
The 240-page dossier—filed with the UK Metropolitan Police’s War Crimes Unit—details acts of murder, extermination, attacks on civilians, and forced displacement allegedly committed by these individuals while serving in the Israeli military during the ongoing Gaza conflict. The accusations are based on open-source intelligence and verified witness testimonies, covering atrocities committed between October 2023 and May 2024.
“This initiative by British lawyers is a courageous step forward in seeking justice for the people of Gaza,” said Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid, President of MAPIM. “It sends a clear message that individuals who participate in war crimes must be held accountable—regardless of their nationality or military affiliation.”
MAPIM affirms its full support for this legal effort and urges the UK Government to act decisively by launching a full, transparent investigation into the accused. MAPIM also calls on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to monitor and, if necessary, intervene to ensure justice is upheld without political interference.
MAPIM reiterates its position that what is unfolding in Gaza amounts to genocide and a mass assault on humanity, as echoed by Mansfield’s own statements. This action must be the start of a broader international movement to investigate and prosecute foreign mercenaries and state actors complicit in the destruction of Palestinian lives and infrastructure.
“Justice delayed is justice denied. The international community must not remain silent while children, doctors, journalists, and civilians are bombed with impunity,” Azmi stressed.
MAPIM continues to mobilise global civil society to press for legal accountability, economic sanctions, and humanitarian relief for Gaza. This case serves as a precedent that no perpetrator of war crimes should escape the rule of law—no matter how powerful or protected.
