Press Release
29 April 2025
ISRAEL MUST BE EXPOSED AND BROUGHT TO THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT (ICC)
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organization (MAPIM) strongly condemns the continuous and systematic targeting of journalists by Israeli occupation forces in Gaza.
According to the latest report from the Government Media Office in Gaza, the number of Palestinian journalists martyred has now reached 212 since the onset of the brutal and genocidal war against Gaza. The most recent casualties include journalists Helmi Al-Faqaawi and Saeed Amin Abu Hasanein of Al-Aqsa Voice Radio, who were killed following a direct Israeli airstrike on a journalists’ tent near Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.
The deliberate killing of journalists is a war crime that cannot and must not be ignored by the international community, particularly the global media fraternity. The killings are a blatant attempt to silence the voice of truth and prevent the exposure of Israel’s atrocities against the Palestinian people.
MAPIM asserts the following:
●The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), the Federation of Arab Journalists, and all media organizations worldwide must urgently denounce the systematic targeting of journalists by Israel.
●The world media must act courageously to expose Israel’s war crimes and the genocidal campaign against Gaza.
●Israel must be brought before the International Criminal Court (ICC) to be prosecuted for crimes against humanity and war crimes against journalists.
●The governments of the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and France, who continue to support Israel politically, militarily, and diplomatically, must be held complicit in these atrocities.
MAPIM holds the Israeli regime fully accountable for these heinous crimes and calls for:
- Immediate international intervention to protect journalists and media workers in Gaza.
- Systematic documentation and prosecution of Israeli crimes against media professionals.
- Effective and serious pressure from the international community to halt the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
The bravery and sacrifices of Palestinian journalists, who serve humanity by documenting the truth under bombardment, must be honored. The world must not remain a silent spectator to the massacre of voices striving to tell the story of a people under siege.
MAPIM prays for Allah’s mercy upon our martyred brothers and sisters and for strength and fortitude for their grieving families. We reaffirm our unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and the courageous media professionals who continue to risk their lives in defense of truth and justice.
Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid
President
Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM)
