Eidul Adha is not merely an annual religious celebration. It is a manifestation of total submission to Allah, a symbol of the great sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.), and a lasting emblem of struggle in the history of the Muslim Ummah. Yet today, as our brothers and sisters in Palestine continue to be brutally oppressed, we must ask ourselves with honesty and courage: What meaning does Eidul Adha carry if we forget the struggle to liberate Palestine and Al-Quds?
Eidul Adha: Beyond Rituals – A Spirit of Struggle
Every 10th of Zulhijjah, we commemorate the epic story of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail (A.S.)—two icons of absolute obedience and sacrifice for Allah. But this story is not just meant to be retold sentimentally. It is a clarion call for the Ummah to be willing to sacrifice for truth, justice, and liberation from oppression.
Are we willing to sacrifice personal comfort, intellectual complacency, and passive indifference that make us mute witnesses to the suffering of the Palestinian people? Can we truly bear to watch the land of Al-Quds remain under occupation, and Al-Aqsa Mosque continue to be desecrated—without a stir in our hearts?
Palestine: A Test of Faith and Measure of Ummah Solidarity
The issue of Palestine is not just an Arab concern. It is not a regional political matter. It is a matter of faith and the concern of the entire Muslim Ummah. Al-Aqsa is our first Qiblah, the land of Isra’ and Mi’raj, and one of the sanctified lands mentioned in the Qur’an.
Every drop of blood spilled in Gaza, every home demolished in the West Bank, every child orphaned—these are cries demanding us to rise and demonstrate genuine solidarity.
To celebrate Eidul Adha without the spirit of liberating Palestine is to observe an empty ritual that ignores the true essence of sacrifice. We slaughter animals for ritual sacrifice, but fail to slaughter our own fear and hesitation to defend our fellow believers.
Emulating Ibrahim A.S.: Sacrifice Against Tyranny
Prophet Ibrahim was not merely a personal symbol of sacrifice. He was a pioneer of resistance against the tyranny of Nimrod. His story is a message of standing up against systems that reject Tawhid and oppress humanity. Emulating Prophet Ibrahim today means having the courage to confront modern tyranny—including the Zionist regime and its enablers.
We cannot celebrate Eidul Adha in luxurious garments, with excess feasting, while turning a blind eye to mass killings in Gaza and the strangulation of an entire population under siege.
What Must Muslims Do Today?
- Make Eidul Adha a platform for solidarity with Palestine. The Eid sermons must call for the liberation of Al-Quds and expose Zionist crimes.
- Channel Qurban funds to the Palestinian people. Sacrifices should go beyond our own local communities—they must cross national borders.
- Pressure Muslim governments to act firmly against Israel. The Ummah must stop being silent spectators.
- Educate the younger generation on the true meaning of Eidul Adha. Instill the spirit of struggle, not just rituals devoid of meaning.
Conclusion: Eidul Adha and the Promise of Liberation
Eidul Adha is the moment we renew our covenant with Allah—to be a people ready to sacrifice in the cause of truth. In today’s context, there is no greater sacrifice than to unite and mobilize the Ummah’s collective strength to liberate Palestine and restore the dignity of Al-Quds.
Without this spirit, Eidul Adha is reduced to a hollow tradition—while the people of Palestine continue to shed blood in defense of the honor of all Muslims.
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa Lillahil Hamd.
