Muslim Scientist Conference 2025
*Call for Prime Minister of Malaysia to Lead the ReAwakening of an Ethical Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future
17 November 2025 | Kuala Lumpur*
The Muslim Scientist Conference 2025 convened today in Kuala Lumpur amid growing regional and global concern over the direction of science and technology in an era marked by climate instability, humanitarian crises and widening socio economic inequalities.
Delegates from research institutions, universities, technology sectors, civil society and international partners gathered under a shared belief that scientific advancement must return to its ethical roots grounded in responsibility, justice and service to humanity.
The Conference calls upon the Prime Minister of Malaysia , Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to champion a new regional and global movement anchored on ethical science and technology. Malaysia has the leadership capacity, the moral voice and the strategic position to spearhead this reawakening grounded in values, sustainability and human dignity.
Scientific progress has transformed the world, yet its misuse has also deepened conflict, environmental degradation and social injustice. The Muslim Scientist Conference stresses that a different pathway is urgently needed one that aligns knowledge with conscience and innovation with the protection of life and the environment.
Malaysia’s leadership is vital for three reasons
First the country has demonstrated consistent commitment to humanitarian diplomacy, sustainable development and international cooperation.
Second Malaysia’s scientific community is growing rapidly with young researchers, innovators and universities ready to rise to this responsibility.
Third Malaysia’s voice carries moral weight in advocating for a future where science uplifts society rather than undermines it.
The Conference urges the Prime Minister to lead a regional initiative that focuses on:
- Ethical Governance of Science and Technology including AI, biotechnology, energy transitions and data governance.
- Sustainable Research Priorities addressing climate resilience, food security, water management, public health and renewable energy.
- Community Centered Innovation ensuring research outcomes benefit vulnerable groups and support regional humanitarian challenges.
- A Regional Network of Muslim Scientists to strengthen collaboration, accelerate knowledge sharing and build long term scientific capacity.
Delegates emphasise that the Muslim world once led the world in ethical scientific practice built on principles of justice, compassion, stewardship of the earth and respect for human life. Reviving this tradition is not a nostalgic aspiration but an urgent necessity.
The Conference reaffirms that science must never be detached from conscience. Innovation must not become a tool for domination, exploitation or environmental harm. It must be the foundation of a fair, peaceful and sustainable future.
The Muslim Scientist Conference 2025 calls on the Prime Minister of Malaysia to take up this mantle of leadership and mobilise regional and international partners to build a science and technology agenda rooted in ethics, responsibility and shared prosperity.
The future demands courage and vision. The Conference stands ready to support this leadership and to work with all stakeholders in shaping a scientific renaissance that honours humanity and protects our planet.
