ISRAEL’S ATTACK ON UNRWA IS A DECLARATION OF WAR AGAINST THE UNITED NATIONS AND THE WORLD
Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia (MAPIM) strongly condemns the Israeli occupation’s demolition of UNRWA facilities in occupied Jerusalem, a direct assault on the only United Nations agency mandated to support Palestinian refugees.
Israeli forces cut water and electricity before forcibly entering the UNRWA compound in Sheikh Jarrah, carrying out demolitions under police protection. The removal of the UN flag and its replacement is not merely of the United Nations
UN premises, personnel, and property are inviolable.
Any attack on them constitutes a serious breach of international law.
A Strategy of Erasure
This is not an isolated incident. It is part of a systematic campaign to:
dismantle refugee protection mechanisms,
erase Palestinian identity and history,
and remove international witnesses to occupation and apartheid.
When Israel attacks UNRWA, it is not targeting a building. It is targeting the right of return, the right to education, and the right to dignity.
MAPIM Demands
● Immediate halt to all demolitions and seizures of UNRWA facilities
● Full restoration of utilities and access to UN compounds
●International protection for UNRWA staff and property
●Accountability under international law for these violations
●Firm action by the UN, OIC, and international community to defend UN mandates
Silence in the face of this aggression is complicity.
An attack on the United Nations is an attack on the rules that protect humanity itself.
