PRESS STATEMENT
5 February 2026 | Kashmir Day
KASHMIR : THE SOLUTION IS STRAIGHTFORWARD
END OCCUPATION. RESTORE RIGHTS. LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE** .
Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia (MAPIM) stands in full solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir on Kashmir Day 2026. After more than seven decades of occupation, repression, and denial of fundamental rights, one truth remains undeniable:
●The solution to Kashmir is straightforward.
●It is not complicated.
●It is not ambiguous.
●It is already written in international law.
Occupation Is the Root Cause
The people of Kashmir continue to suffer under:
●extrajudicial killings,
●mass political arrests,
●enforced disappearances,
●restrictions on movement,
●prolonged curfews and ●communication blackouts,
●and systematic intimidation.
This is not governance.
This is domination.
Demographic Engineering Must Stop
Since the revocation of Article 370 in 2019, India has embarked on a deliberate policy of demographic change by altering land, residency, and electoral laws.
This is a violation of international humanitarian law.
It is an attempt to erase the identity and political will of a people.
Political Prisoners Must Be Freed
Kashmiri leaders, journalists, students, and activists remain imprisoned without fair trial under draconian laws.
Their only “crime” is demanding freedom.
Silencing voices will never silence truth.
The Law Is Clear
The United Nations Security Council, through Resolution 47 and subsequent resolutions, recognizes Kashmir as a disputed territory and affirms the right of its people to self determination.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has repeatedly called for an end to human rights violations and respect for Kashmiri aspirations.
What is missing is not law.
What is missing is enforcement.
MAPIM Demands
- Immediate release of all political detainees
- Repeal of draconian laws PSA, UAPA, and AFSPA
- An end to demographic engineering
- Withdrawal of Indian troops
- Restoration of freedom of movement, expression, and assembly
- Implementation of UN Security Council resolutions through a free and impartial plebiscite
There can be no peace in South Asia without justice in Kashmir.
End occupation.
Restore rights.
Let the people decide.
