” The World Must Stop Israel’s Seizure of the West Bank”
MAPIM strongly condemns the decision of Israel’s Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, to approve the construction of more than 3,300 housing units in the illegal E1 settlement area in the occupied West Bank. This move is a deliberate attempt to bury the idea of establishing a Palestinian state and destroy the two-state solution once and for all.
The illegal E1 settlement project will:
- Connect Maale Adumim settlement to Jerusalem – a strategic step that will split the West Bank into two parts, cutting off the geographic continuity of Palestinian territory.
- Strengthen Israel’s “de facto sovereignty” – a form of illegal annexation in violation of international law.
- Undermine the future of East Jerusalem – preventing it from becoming the capital of a sovereign Palestinian state. MAPIM asserts that:
● These settlements violate the Fourth Geneva Convention (1949), which prohibits an occupying power from transferring its population into occupied territories.
● This project is a deliberate expansion of Zionist colonisation, aimed at denying Palestinians their legitimate right to their homeland.
● The world must not remain silent; failure to act will only give Israel a free pass to continue violating international law.
MAPIM’s Demands:
- The UN, OIC, EU, and ASEAN must immediately pressure Israel to halt the E1 project and all illegal settlements.
- Muslim-majority nations and the Global South must suspend economic and diplomatic ties with the Zionist regime until these illegal expansions are cancelled.
- The International Criminal Court (ICC) must expedite investigations and prosecute Israeli leaders responsible for these war crimes.
MAPIM calls on the people of Malaysia and the international community to unite in a global campaign against Israel’s seizure of the West Bank and to strengthen support for the Palestinian people’s right to live freely and independently in their homeland.
