PRESS STATEMENT

*Ceasefire in Kashmir — *But What About Gaza?
A Call for Justice, Not Double Standards**
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organization (MAPIM) welcomes the continued observance of the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC) between Pakistan and India. We recognize this as a step towards preventing escalation in a historically tense and militarized region, particularly in the wake of years of conflict affecting the people of Kashmir.
However, this development compels us to raise a critical and urgent question:
If Kashmir can see a ceasefire, why is Gaza still under relentless attack?
While the world acknowledges the need for restraint between nuclear powers, the same urgency is absent when it comes to the daily massacres inflicted upon Palestinians in Gaza by the Zionist regime. The hypocrisy is glaring. Ceasefire diplomacy is encouraged for South Asia, but no such mechanism is applied to the genocide unfolding in Gaza.
Gaza: No Ceasefire, No Justice
For over six months, Gaza has endured an unprecedented military assault by Israel. Over 35,000 Palestinians have been killed—many of them women and children. Homes, hospitals, schools, and UN shelters have been bombed with impunity. The siege has created conditions of famine, disease, and mass displacement. This is not a war—it is an extermination campaign.
Unlike the India–Pakistan context, where both sides are engaged as state actors with ceasefire protocols, Gaza is unilaterally besieged, denied a voice, and vilified for resisting occupation. The occupying power, Israel, refuses to acknowledge Palestinian rights, and the international community—particularly Western powers—continues to block ceasefire resolutions at the United Nations.
Double Standards Must End
MAPIM condemns the blatant double standards in international diplomacy:
●A ceasefire is possible when the aggressors are nuclear-armed—but denied when the victims are stateless and Muslim.
●Kashmir’s ceasefire is praised—but Gaza’s call for a truce is silenced.
●Calls for restraint are loud for India and Pakistan—but absent when Israel commits war crimes.
Our Demands
MAPIM calls for:
- An immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza under international supervision.
- An end to the illegal siege and blockade imposed by Israel.
- Protection of civilians and accountability for war crimes in Gaza.
- Equal international attention to the suffering of Palestinians as is given to other global crises. The Role of the Muslim World
We urge the Muslim Ummah and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to treat Gaza as urgently as any other regional conflict. Silence and inaction are complicity. We call upon all Muslim-majority nations to:
●Withdraw ambassadors from Israel-supporting states.
●Enforce boycotts of Israeli and complicit corporations.
●Support international legal proceedings against Israeli leaders for crimes against humanity.
The cause of Kashmir and Gaza are not separate—they are struggles against occupation, apartheid, and ethnic erasure. If the world can press for peace in one, it must demand justice for the other.
Gaza deserves a ceasefire. Gaza deserves freedom.
End the hypocrisy. End the genocide.
