MAPIM: THE GLOBAL SUMUD FLOTILLA HAS COMMENCED – THE WORLD MUST RECOGNISE AND PROTECT THE HUMANITARIAN DELEGATES
Kuala Lumpur, 1st September 2025 –
Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia (MAPIM) is aware that the Global Sumud Flotilla has officially commenced its historic mission to break the illegal blockade on Gaza and deliver urgent humanitarian aid to its besieged population.
This humanitarian initiative represents a coalition of international civil society, activists, medical professionals, and human rights defenders united under the banner of Sumud (steadfastness) – a spirit symbolising resilience, dignity, and unwavering commitment to justice for Palestine.
The flotilla carries food, medical supplies, and other essential aid for the Palestinian people, who are enduring one of the most devastating humanitarian catastrophes in modern history due to the continued siege and ongoing genocide perpetrated by the Zionist Israeli regime.
MAPIM stresses that:
- The Global Sumud Flotilla is a peaceful humanitarian mission in full accordance with international law and maritime rights. Any attempt to obstruct, attack, or sabotage the mission must be considered a direct violation of international humanitarian principles.
- The international community, particularly the United Nations and state governments, must urgently guarantee the safety of the delegates onboard. Their sole mission is to deliver humanitarian assistance and show solidarity with the oppressed people of Gaza.
- The world must hold Israel accountable should it resort to acts of piracy or aggression against the flotilla, as history has tragically witnessed in past missions where humanitarian workers were killed in cold blood.
MAPIM reaffirms its unyielding support for this global initiative and calls upon governments, NGOs, media, and people of conscience everywhere to:
- Stand in solidarity with the flotilla delegates.
- Demand safe passage for the humanitarian convoy.
- Condemn any hostile act against civilians carrying aid.
The Global Sumud Flotilla is more than an aid mission; it is a moral call to humanity. Gaza must not be left to perish in silence.
