TRUMP CANNOT BE TRUSTED: U.S. COMPLICIT IN ISRAELI STRIKE ON QATAR
Kuala Lumpur – 16 September 2025
We, the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM), together with the Global Coalition for Jerusalem and Palestine, strongly condemn the Israeli strike on Doha which endangered the sovereignty and security of the State of Qatar and undermined regional stability.
Recent revelations by multiple senior Israeli officials, reported by Axios and The Times of Israel, confirm that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally informed U.S. President Donald Trump of the impending attack nearly one hour before it was carried out. This fact shatters Trump’s subsequent claim that the U.S. received no “meaningful warning.”
The truth is clear: President Trump had both the time and the authority to prevent the strike, yet chose to remain silent. Israeli sources themselves admitted, “If Trump had wanted to stop it, he could have. In practice, he didn’t.”
Our grave concerns are as follows:
- Breach of Responsibility: Trump’s failure to act demonstrates tacit U.S. approval of Israel’s violation of Qatari sovereignty—despite Qatar being a vital American ally and host to the largest U.S. base in the Middle East.
- Sabotage of Diplomacy: The Hamas leaders targeted in Doha were reportedly engaged in reviewing a U.S.-backed ceasefire framework. Israel’s strike, enabled by U.S. inaction, directly undermined peace efforts.
- Erosion of Trust: Trump’s contradictory statements—denying advance knowledge despite credible reports to the contrary—prove that he cannot be relied upon as a trustworthy leader in matters of regional peace and security.
- Risk of Escalation: By giving Netanyahu a silent green light, Trump has emboldened Israel’s recklessness, risking wider instability and conflict across the region. Our Call to the World:
●We call on the international community and the Arab-Islamic world to hold the United States accountable for complicity in this reckless act.
●We demand an independent international investigation into the Doha strike and the decision-making that enabled it.
●We urge Qatar and all GCC members to reconsider their security arrangements with Washington until the U.S. demonstrates consistency in upholding international law and protecting its allies.
●We call for greater unity among Muslim nations to stand against Israeli impunity and U.S. double standards that perpetuate injustice in Palestine and destabilize the region.
This episode has laid bare the dangerous duplicity of U.S. policy: President Trump had the power to stop the attack, but he chose not to. His actions prove beyond doubt that he cannot be trusted.
The cause of Palestine and the defense of Jerusalem demand clarity, courage, and consistency. We will not allow political deception to mask complicity in crimes that endanger peace and human dignity.
