PRESS STATEMENT
TURKIYE’S ARREST WARRANT ON ISRAELI LEADERS IS A COURAGEOUS STEP TOWARD GLOBAL JUSTICE
Date: 8 November 2025 | Kuala Lumpur
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) commends and fully supports the historic decision by the Republic of Türkiye to issue arrest warrants against 37 top Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Israel Katz, and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
This action is both courageous and necessary. It represents a clear assertion that impunity for war crimes can no longer be tolerated and that no individual, regardless of rank or political influence, is above international law.
MAPIM stresses that Türkiye’s initiative stands as a moral and legal precedent for all nations committed to upholding human rights and justice for the oppressed. For decades, Palestinians have endured systematic massacres, displacement, and collective punishment, while global institutions have largely failed to hold Israeli leaders accountable.
The issuance of these warrants is a landmark moment in international legal activism and a call for the global community — especially Muslim-majority nations and members of the United Nations — to align their diplomatic and legal actions to ensure the execution of these warrants. Justice must not stop at declarations; it must lead to actual prosecution.
MAPIM urges:
- The International Criminal Court (ICC) to expedite its ongoing investigations and formally cooperate with Türkiye’s judicial authorities.
- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to endorse and reinforce Türkiye’s legal initiative through collective resolutions.
- All nations to enforce travel bans and restrictions on Israeli officials under indictment and to facilitate their arrest should they enter cooperating territories.
MAPIM reaffirms its position that accountability is the cornerstone of peace. Without justice, the cycle of Israeli aggression will persist. Türkiye has demonstrated that the path to justice begins with political will and moral courage — a standard all responsible nations must now follow.
