PRESS RELEASE
Kuala Lumpur | 16 March 2026
The Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia (MAPIM) condemns in the strongest possible terms the cowardly and inhumane attacks carried out by the United States and Israel that have resulted in the killing of hundreds of innocent children in Iran.
According to reports released by Iran’s Ministry of Health and reported internationally, the ongoing US-Israeli military attacks on Iran have killed at least 202 children, including 12 children under the age of five. The scale of these killings represents a horrifying assault on the most vulnerable members of society.
MAPIM views this as a cowardly crime against humanity. The deliberate or reckless bombing of civilian areas that leads to the deaths of children can never be justified under any military doctrine or political objective. Such actions represent a grave violation of international humanitarian law and the fundamental principles that govern the protection of civilians during armed conflict.
The killing of children is not collateral damage. It is a moral catastrophe and a crime that demands immediate international accountability.
MAPIM expresses deep disappointment at the continued silence of many governments in the Gulf region and the lack of decisive action by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). At a time when innocent lives are being lost, the Muslim world cannot afford hesitation or diplomatic paralysis.
We also call upon the international community, particularly global humanitarian institutions including UNICEF and the United Nations, to urgently investigate these attacks and take immediate action to protect civilians and hold those responsible accountable under international law.
The world cannot remain silent while children become victims of geopolitical wars. Justice must be pursued for every innocent life lost.
MAPIM urges all people of conscience across the globe to demand accountability and to reject the normalization of violence against civilians.
The protection of children must remain a universal moral responsibility that transcends political alliances and military agendas.
Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid
President
Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia (MAPIM)
