February 11, 2025PRESS RELEASE
10th February 2025
In recent years, a disturbing trend has emerged in India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration—the targeted demolition of Muslim-owned properties in what has been widely condemned as an act of collective punishment and discrimination. Dubbed as “Bulldozer Justice,” this practice has disproportionately affected Muslim communities, raising serious concerns about human rights violations, religious persecution, and the erosion of democratic principles in India.
State-Sanctioned Discrimination
Under the guise of “illegal encroachment” and urban development laws, Indian authorities have demolished homes, businesses, and mosques belonging to Muslims. However, reports indicate that these demolitions are often selective, with Hindu-owned properties in similar circumstances left untouched.
This systematic targeting of Muslims has been widely condemned by human rights organizations as a form of state-led persecution designed to marginalize and intimidate India’s 200-million-strong Muslim population.
A Pattern of Persecution
- Communal Violence & Retaliatory Demolitions: Following incidents of communal unrest, authorities have swiftly demolished Muslim-owned properties as an extrajudicial form of collective punishment—a clear violation of the rule of law.
- Crackdown on Activists & Scholars*: Prominent *Muslim voices, scholars, and activists who speak against these injustices face arbitrary arrests, harassment, and surveillance.
- Islamophobic Policies & Hindutva Agenda Under the Hindutva nationalist ideology, Muslims are increasingly being treated as second-class citizens, with laws such as the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the revocation of Kashmir’s special status reinforcing systemic discrimination.
The OIC Must Act Urgently :
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as the collective voice of 57 Muslim-majority nations, cannot remain silent. in the face of these grave injustices. It must:
1.Issue a Strong Condemnation: Officially denounce India’s anti-Muslim policies and the illegal demolitions of Muslim properties.
2.Engage in Diplomatic Pressure: Urge the United Nations, European Union, and global human rights bodies to investigate and hold India accountable for its violations of international law.
3.Mobilize Economic & Political Measures: OIC member states must consider *trade sanctions and diplomatic measures to pressure India into stopping these discriminatory policies.
4.Support India’s Muslim Community: Provide legal, financial, and humanitarian assistance to those affected by demolitions and state oppression.
The weaponization of bulldozers against Muslims in India is not just an internal issue but a global human rights concern. If the world remains silent, this systematic persecution will only escalate, setting a dangerous precedent for state-led discrimination against minorities worldwide.
The OIC must act decisively to protect the rights and dignity of Indian Muslims before it is too late..
