PRESS STATEMENT
Date: 17 May 2025
MAPIM strongly criticises the recent visit of former U.S. President Donald Trump to three Arab countries, which completely ignored the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Instead, the visit focused solely on securing economic investments and arms deals from the Arab world — a clear indication of an agenda that disregards the suffering of the Palestinian people and the broader interests of the Muslim Ummah.
- TOTAL DISREGARD FOR THE GENOCIDE IN GAZA
MAPIM views Trump’s silence on the mass killing and starvation of Palestinians in Gaza as a moral disgrace. At a time when over 35,000 Palestinians — mostly women and children — have been killed, any political engagement in the region must begin with a demand for justice and accountability.
- A NEW FORM OF ECONOMIC AND MILITARY COLONIALISM
Trump’s attempt to use the region as a marketplace for American weapons and investments reflects a neo-imperial strategy — one that fosters division, empowers oppressive regimes, and sidelines the Palestinian struggle.
- ARAB NORMALIZATION EQUALS UMMAH BETRAYAL
MAPIM asserts that any Arab leadership that engages diplomatically or economically with Trump without raising the plight of Gaza is betraying the sacred cause of Al-Quds and the Ummah. There is no legitimacy for diplomacy that ignores the Palestinian genocide.
- MAPIM’S STRONG DEMANDS
MAPIM calls on:
●All Muslim governments to immediately halt normalization with Israel and its backers.
●Arab leaders to issue a firm and unified stance against genocide in Gaza, not prioritize weapons deals.
●The global Muslim Ummah to launch a boycott campaign targeting U.S. arms companies and to support international legal action against war criminals.
MAPIM reaffirms its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and urges the international community to reject attempts to normalize relations that ignore human rights violations.
“Justice for Gaza is the cornerstone of lasting peace in the region.”
