“ ARROGANT TRUMP — YOU ARE COMPLICIT IN PROMOTING VIOLENCE ”
For immediate release
21st October 2025 | Kuala Lumpur
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) condemns in the strongest possible terms the threatening and irresponsible statements attributed to U.S. President Donald Trump — including public calls to “eradicate” Hamas and suggestions that other countries or Israel should carry out violent operations if the group does not comply with a fragile ceasefire.
Such rhetoric — coming from the leader of a major world power — is reckless and dangerous. It legitimizes the use of extreme force, fuels further retaliation, and directly contributes to the spiralling cycle of violence that is already costing countless civilian lives in Gaza. Words from the powerful carry consequences on the ground; they are not simply political posturing.
MAPIM’s position is clear:
- We condemn threats of eradication and extrajudicial violence.
Calls to “eradicate” any group, or to urge other states to carry out violent reprisal, amount to endorsement of collective punishment and risk grave violations of international humanitarian law. Such statements serve to escalate conflict, not resolve it. - We hold political leaders accountable for speech that incites violence.
Public exhortations to military vengeance create an environment that trivializes civilian suffering and may hinder ongoing diplomatic efforts. Leaders must choose de-escalation, not provocation. - The United States must act with restraint and responsibility.
As a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a guarantor of peace processes, the U.S. government must use its influence to protect civilians, enforce ceasefires, and back credible, impartial mechanisms for accountability — not inflame tensions. - We call for immediate, concrete international measures to protect civilians:
Immediate public retraction and clarification from the U.S. administration that such language will not be acted upon or used to justify military escalation.
Renewed pressure on all parties to fully and verifiably implement the ceasefire, and for guarantor states to monitor compliance in a transparent manner.
Urgent deployment of an international protection mechanism — including UN peacekeepers under Chapter VII if needed — to safeguard civilians, ensure humanitarian access, and prevent further atrocities.
An independent international investigation into violations of international humanitarian law committed since the outbreak of hostilities, with accountability for those responsible.
Suspension of any arms transfers, training, or materiel that could be used to commit or facilitate attacks on civilians.
- We reiterate MAPIM’s humanitarian priorities:
The immediate opening and protection of humanitarian corridors; safe and unfettered delivery of food, medicine and fuel; rebuilding civilian infrastructure; and sustained diplomatic efforts toward a just and lasting solution that respects Palestinian rights and security for all.
MAPIM rejects the false choice of “violence or submission.” The people of Gaza — women, children, elderly and the infirm — are innocent civilians whose rights and lives must be protected. Moral leadership demands restraint, protection of civilians, and pursuit of justice through law and diplomacy, not threats of annihilation.
We call upon the Government of the United States, regional powers, the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab League, ASEAN and all nations that value human dignity to act now — to cool tensions, protect civilians, and to refuse rhetoric and policies that promote or reward violence.
