US IMPERIALISM LAID BARE – THE WORLD ORDER HAS COLLAPSED

Majlis Perundingan Pertubuhan Islam Malaysia (MAPIM) strongly condemns recent statements by Donald Trump indicating that the use of the United States military to acquire Greenland is “always an option.” This alarming declaration represents a direct assault on international law, state sovereignty, and the very foundations of the post World War II global order.

Coming immediately after the US military abduction of Venezuela’s sitting president, this development confirms a dangerous reality: the United States is no longer even attempting to cloak its actions in the language of rules, diplomacy, or multilateralism.

What we are witnessing is open imperial behaviour, including threats of territorial acquisition against a NATO ally, Denmark.

MAPIM stresses that Greenland is not a “security asset” to be seized, but a homeland whose future must be decided solely by its people. Any threat to use force against a sovereign territory, whether friend or foe, is a clear violation of the United Nations Charter and a grave crime against international norms.

The justification offered, national security, access to rare earth resources, and control of Arctic shipping routes, exposes the real motive: resource driven expansion and strategic domination.

This is the same imperial logic long imposed on Palestine, Iraq, Libya, Syria, and now openly extended even to Western allies.

MAPIM notes with deep concern that this marks the collapse of the so called rules based international order. When the world’s most powerful state publicly declares that military force is an acceptable tool for territorial acquisition, international law becomes meaningless, and global stability is placed in serious jeopardy.

For the Muslim world and the Global South, this moment must serve as a wake up call.

Palestine was never an exception; it was a warning. What is unfolding today in Greenland confirms that no nation is safe when power replaces law.

MAPIM CALLS FOR:

●Absolute respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states
Immediate rejection of any threat of military force to alter borders
●Collective resistance to the normalization of annexation and imperial conduct
●Stronger cooperation among the Global South and Muslim nations to defend international justice
●Moral leadership that upholds law, not the arrogance of power

MAPIM reiterates that silence in the face of imperial threats is complicity. The international community must act decisively before force, coercion, and annexation become accepted tools of global governance.

The world stands at a dangerous crossroads. If this moment is not confronted with clarity and courage, history will record it as the point where the global order did not merely weaken, but finally collapsed.
